Born in 1965, Patrick Moroder grew up in Val Gardena as the son of a renowned family of sculptors. Artistic creativity was in his blood and his inventive spirit became apparent at an early age. In 1982, he received his Master’s diploma from the Cademia Art School in Ortisei, where he later earned a degree in Applied Arts. He particularly excelled in geometric drawing, a subject he would later teach at the same academy. Moroder also graduated from the vocational school in Bolzano, specialising in furniture design, which further fuelled his passion for interiors and furnishings.
Early in his career, he managed exhibition projects and developed wooden toys for the company Sevi. After specialising in product design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan, he gained valuable experience working with international brands at the Matteo Thun & Partners design studio. In 1991, he co-founded MM Design Bolzano, establishing himself as the developer of several internationally successful products, including the renowned ‘Attac’ climbing carabiner. In 1998, Moroder began collaborating with the Academy of Design Bolzano (ADB), where he led seminars in geometric drawing. That same year, he founded his own studio, MoroderDesign, which has been developing and managing product and interior design projects for over two decades. Nature is always at the heart of his work, providing inspiration for proportions, shapes and colours. He continually pursues a timeless, harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality.
